FEATURED PROJECTS:

Project:

St. Mary's University, Winona, MN.

Client:

Wight and Company Architects

I photographed this project for Wight and Company in the spring and summer of 2017.  It is a new science building with labs, classrooms, common areas and a lecture hall.

About the photos:

As always, I used extensive lighting for the dusk exterior as well as for all the interiors. Most spaces were photographed both with and without people. When photographing with people, I usually light the space first, then after carefully arranging them in the exact locations, I will reshoot, lighting for the people only, and drop that image in with the overall photograph.

Lighting for me is essential in order to bring out detail, texture, dimension, contrast and interest. I lead the viewer's eye through the image to the important design elements by creating subtle highlighted areas of interest. I put a great deal of effort in creating these final files - many exposure and adjustment layers are required in order to meet my rigorous standard of quality. For each day I'm on the location photographing, I will spend a minimum of a day and a half to two days in creating the final files; oftentimes more.
